Our Assets

We are one of the top oil and gas exploration and production companies in Europe, and our operations span UK, Norwegian, Dutch and Danish waters.

Our portfolio includes major operated assets like Morecambe Bay, developments including Oda in Norway, non-operated interests in Cygnus and other major fields such as Statfjord, and exciting projects like Hejre in Denmark and Skarfjell in Norway.

Decomissioning

As part of our operations across Europe, we are committed to maximising the potential of our assets. As these fields come to the end of their lives, our focus turns to decommissioning them safely and in an environmentally-friendly way.

The A Fields in the Southern North Sea include one of the region’s oldest discoveries, Ann, as well as Audrey, Alison and Annabel. The fields are 55 miles offshore and, after producing nearly one trillion cubic feet of gas, are now in the process of being decommissioned.

Spirit Energy’s experience on the UK Continental Shelf stretches back more than 30 years, starting with the gas fields in Morecambe Bay which are still a key part of our operations.

Today, our UK teams also produce gas and oil from both operated and non-operated fields, from Chestnut in the central North Sea to Cygnus in the southern North Sea.

Spirit Energy’s Norwegian operations were established in 2006 and have grown into a substantial business with about 60 licences on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, of which 20% are operated. Spirit Energy has built its Norwegian portfolio through success in licensing rounds, exploration and acquisitions.

With ownership in 12 producing fields in Norway, Spirit Energy produces approximately 95,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Spirit Energy also operates one producing field, Vale. Currently, Spirit Energy is involved in four development projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf: Oda and Fogelberg, both operated, and Maria and Skarfjell as partner.

Spirit Energy operates two key hubs in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, the Greater Markham Area and F3-FA.

The Greater Markham Area, which has been producing gas for more than 25 years, includes the Markham, Chiswick, Grove and Kew fields, and a key focus for our Netherlands team has been to introduce new technology and drill new wells to maximise output from the region.

F3-FA is produced via the North Sea’s first and largest self-installing platform, which is used thanks to its flexibility and the field’s remote location.

Spirit Energy has non-operated interests in both the Solsort and Hejre discoveries in Denmark.

Spirit, along with our fellow licensees, is evaluating how to develop both prospects, including a joint development.
