Rig contract awarded for Nova field
Spirit Energy and the Nova licence partnership have awarded Seadrill Operations Ltd a rig contract for the Nova development in Norway.
Seadrill will operate the West Mira rig on behalf of Northern Drilling.
The West Mira is contracted to drill six subsea wells on the Nova field starting in the first half of 2020. The operations with the semi-submersible drilling rig is planned to last approximately one year, with first oil scheduled for 2021.
Nova will be developed as a subsea tie-back connecting two templates to the nearby Gjøa platform for processing and export. Gjøa will also provide gas lift to the field and water injection for pressure support in the reservoir. Power on the Nova field comes via the Gjøa platform from shore.
Nova was discovered in 2012 and is located in the northeastern part of the Norwegian North Sea, about 17 kilometers southwest of the Gjøa platform and about 120 kilometers northwest of Bergen.
Spirit Energy has a 20% interest in Nova. Partners are Wintershall Norge AS (35%, operator), Capricorn Norge AS (20%), Edison Norge AS (15%) and DEA Norge AS (10%).
