F3-FA

Operated

The F3-FA field is located approximately 240km north of Den Helder, at a water depth of approximately 40m, within the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

It was first discovered in 1971, but wasn’t developed until 2011 due to its geological complexity and challenging economics. Produced via a self-installing platform (SIP), production ceased in 2018 and the SSCV Thialf was contracted to remove the installation. The 5,000-tonne topside and its four 1,200-tonne legs were removed in a complex lifting operation in August 2019, with F3-FA marking Spirit Energy’s first decommissioning project on a manned platform.
