Now more than ever, the oil and gas industry needs agile players like Spirit Energy investing in its future. I am here to play my part in the company’s growth and success.
30 years in E&P
Chris has been the CEO of Spirit Energy since it was formed in December 2017, and has overall responsibility for developing and implementing the company’s strategy. Prior to this, he was the Managing Director for Centrica’s Exploration & Production business and a member of the Centrica Executive Committee.
Chris has more than 35 years’ experience spanning global oil and gas upstream activities, with deep knowledge across a broad range of disciplines. Prior to his appointment with Centrica, he held a number of senior roles at BG Group Plc, and was latterly the Executive Vice President of BG Advance and a member of the Group Executive Team. Before that, he worked for Amerada Hess and Chevron Corporation across a range of technical, commercial and management roles, spanning a number of international settings. Chris is also the Chairman of leading infrastructure company, Kellas Midstream.
IT’S WHAT’S BENEATH THE SURFACE THAT COUNTS
When people ask me why I do what I do for a living, I tell them it is because I still get a thrill from the challenge of finding and producing hydrocarbons. It is intellectually stimulating in a way that is part art and part science, and doing it better than others is what drives me. Ultimately, it comes down to achieving the best understanding of the subsurface – it is all about the rocks!
THE SPIRIT WAY
It’s very important to me that we are creating a culture that is uniquely Spirit’s – bringing fresh ideas, challenging non-value add activities, and creating a high-performing, inclusive culture that puts safety first, and where everyone feels empowered to add value. We have crafted something really special with a great future.
