PULLING TOGETHER AS ONE
Dean is Spirit Energy’s HR & Communications Director, with accountability for the business’ HR, Communications and Information Systems and Technology (IS/IT) functions. He joined Centrica Energy in 2011 as HR Director E&P, with responsibility for providing HR Leadership to Centrica’s growing E&P business across North West Europe, Trinidad and Canada.
Prior to Centrica, Dean was International HR Director at GMR International, an Indian family-owned Private Equity Fund with a focus on urban infrastructure. He started his HR career at BP, where he spent 20 years working for both the company’s E&P and downstream businesses – with more than ten years based internationally across Moscow, Russia; Caracas, Venezuela and Bogota, Colombia.
Dean’s experience spans all aspects of human resources, including planning and performance management, as well as the development of HR and communications strategies to enable the execution of business strategy - from business acquisition, growth and turnaround, to post-M&A integration.

Being born and raised in South Africa lay the groundwork for Dean’s commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workplace; one characterised by the provision of equality of treatment and opportunity for all. It is a commitment that has been strengthened through the course of his career, during which he has lived and worked across a multitude of different countries and regions around the world. His passion for other cultures is something he continues to explore; rekindling his interest in the Spanish language after six years of tuition in Latin America and re-learning French, 35 years since his last lesson.
