Vania is a progressive and innovative leader in the energy sector and world-class expert in assessing and managing major industrial hazards whilst advancing sustainable solutions.
Vania started her career working as process engineer and technical safety advisor on a number of energy projects in the Netherlands, the UAE, Congo and Algeria. Subsequently she played a major role in BP's internal and external response to the Deepwater Horizon incident and contributed to develop a sound risk policy, institutionalized positive change and transformed the workplace culture
Thereafter she led a number of executive roles in UK and Internationally, leading technically challenging operations. She joined Spirit Energy in September 2021 as interim EVP of Technical and Operated Production before being appointed into her current role as Technical Services and HSE Director.
She has a passion for diversity and inclusion and is a true inspiration for her work with women in the frontline and in STEM. She contributed significantly to the BP Women in Operations programme, especially while in Central Asia where she led many initiatives to support women in the field. She is an advisor and frequent panellist for WISE, Women in Science and Engineering.
Vania has a PhD in process engineering from Ecole National Superieure des Mines de Paris and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. She held a number of research roles at Imperial College. She is author of several research publications and speaker to international conferences.
Vania is passionate about music and arts. She enjoys outdoors with her 8years old son and the two dachshunds.
